Micah

While on our trip to New Jersey I took a few cute shots of our new nephew Micah!

Eastcoast Highlights

As I have previously posted, Ben and I recently returned from a trip back east to celebrate two very important birthday's! We're finally getting around to posting some fun pictures from our trip. Our first stop was "Stewart's" for lunch. Ben said he wanted to try some of the local fare, so my cousin suggested the "California Burger." What? California Burger... aren't we in New Jersey? Lunch at "Stewart's", Lydia happily finished my root beer!

A trip across the Delaware river to Philadelphia was the next stop on our visit. We took the train into the city and had a perfect view as we crossed the river.
My dad and sister, Carrie, joined us on our trip into the city. While in the city we were able to see the house where the Constitution was drafted, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross's House, and Billy Penn.

Before we left the city we decided to walk to the infamous cheese steak stops, Geno's & Pat's. Geno's has received national recognition this year for this controversial sign it has posted by their registers. Directly across the street from Geno's is another cheese steak shop called Pat's. Pat's is what all our relatives recommended and as we walked through the neighborhood's we (or I should say my Dad) asked many of the locals which one was the best. They all said Pat's.

Besides, Rocky ate cheese steaks from Pat's, they must be the best!

One more funny thing we saw while walking through Philadelphia, we couldn't resist!

Our last stop on our trip was Freehold, NJ. The birthplace and old stomping grounds of Bruce Springsteen. I've been informed that our day in Freehold/Asbury Park deserves & needs it's own post. Ben should be adding that to our blog shortly! Stay tuned!

Birthday's Back East

We just returned from a week long visit in New Jersey. We made the trip back east to celebrate two very important birthday's. Granny Dallmann turned 85 and Grandmom Treusch celebrated her 80th! While visiting we managed to make trips to Philadelphia, and Freehold, NJ the birthplace of Bruce Springsteen! Many more pictures of our trip to come!

Dinner at the Space Needle

My dad received an invitation for dinner at the Space Needle, unfortunately for him he was going to be out of town. FORTUNATELY for us we weren't! Ben and I commented on the unbelievable weather while we were on top of the needle. Even though we have both been up to the top many times, the view was the clearest we've ever seen. Besides Mt. Rainier we could also see Mt. Baker in the distance! We dined on the 100 level, and had a free trip to the top afterwards. Three local caterers were featured for dinner, we enjoyed fresh crab cakes, pacific rim shrimp cocktail, pork and beef tacos, (with all the fixin's) and an assortment of olives and cheeses. For desert we sipped on Thomas Kemper root beer floats!

Camano Island

My family enjoyed a beautiful day on Camano Island earlier this month. Friends of our family were having a wedding reception on the island, we couldn't have had better weather. Mae-Mae, Demmy, Opa, and Lydia decided to take the hike down 200 + stairs to the beach. Lydia walked and sang the whole way down. (And back up!) Such an impressive staircase, with lemonade and a bench at the half way point!Lydia decided she needed to "clean" the beach, by throwing all the rocks into the water. That's quite the undertaking on a Washington beach!
Mae-Mae-Demmy, we're one person according to Lydia.

Catching up!

Ben and I are leaving for New Jersey tomorrow and while I was packing I thought I should post a few more pictures I have on my camera of things we did before we left. This way when we return I can post about our trip!

Towards the end of July Ben and I invited Natalie, Andrew, and Lydia over to our house for a SLEEPOVER! After I had coordinated with the parents and the date was set I started to get a bit nervous. Three kids sleeping over, what was I thinking? It turned out to be a great night! The night started with an intense game of "Candyland", thankfully we all made it to the candy castle!
After dinner we watched part of "Mulan", while waiting for our tummies to make room for some desert!
"BEST FRIENDS!" On our way to get ice cream!

Despite the ice cream, brownies Lydia made for us, movies, and all the excitement, lights were out and eyes were closed by 9:30! Unbelieveable... right?

Snoozers! Andrew, Lydia in the middle, and Natalie!

Trivia Update

Our trivia team came in first last week winning the night by 6 points! The next week was the division finals and we began with a 23 point lead but we blew it on the last question (curse you Joss Whedon). Everything was going so well until the last round, "Sell Out". In this round the mc will play 10 popular songs that are used in current television commercials and you have to name the product/brand that they are selling. It may not sound that hard but we got creamed. Ever since we got TiVo I can't remember the last commercial I voluntary watched, we just zip through them, oh well. We are now second overall and we will compete in the championships on September 6th when we the two top teams from Seattle will play the two top teams from San Fransisco. Wish us luck.
P.S. The new season begins Sept. 11th, the more teams the merrier
