Arctic Blast!

Seattle has been hit with an "Arctic Blast", as the news stations have been calling it! We received about 6 inches last night on top of all the other ice and snow that was already on the ground. We know all of our readers in Utah, Iowa, Colorado, and New Jersey get many inches of snow every winter, but 6 inches in the Seattle has the entire city is at a stand still. Sand, salt, and snow tires are sold out, de-icer at the airport has run out, every flight out of Sea-Tac has been cancelled for tonight, and plows can't get down our skinny streets. (We probably don't have enough plows to clear every residential street anyway.) Church was cancelled today so Ben and I had a quiet day in the apartment and went for a walk in the snow this afternoon. Here we are in downtown Fremont. We took a page out of our niece Lydia's book and decided to make some snow angels. MaeMae's Angel!

The First Snowfall of the Winter

We received some snow flurries in Seattle last night! It is supposed to stay cold this week, so we might see some more. Our friend Joseph let me borrow his new Nikon D80, Ben and I walked up to the Zoo and took some shots around the Rose Garden. Enjoy!

Our First Tree

We went shopping for a Christmas tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Since we moved to a bigger place this year we felt we finally had the room to get a decent size tree. The past few years while living in a studio we always settled for some garland to hang our ornaments. I wish I had a hilarious story about our tree blowing off the roof of our car while driving home. Much to our surprise we managed to tie it down well and made it the whole 5 minute drive home drama free. Our finished product. Please excuse the jammies in the next picture, Ben insisted we take a photo right after we were finished decorating. Nothing like an evening at home hanging around the Christmas tree.
