Downtown Day

The week before Christmas the three kids and I boarded the #16 bus and headed downtown to take in all the Christmas sights.  Every time I get on a bus with these three I'm reminded that just riding the bus around Seattle would be considered a blast in their book.
We 'ran' into a favorite face while walking the downtown streets.  The kids could not believe that Ben 'just so happened' to be walking around downtown at the exact time we were.  What a coincidence!  Ben is currently temping downtown and we got off the bus right outside his office.
Our first stop was the Fairmount Olympic Hotel, inside the have an amazing Teddy Bear Suite.  The secret must be out because for the first time we had to wait in a long line to get in.  This was the first line of many that the kids had to wait in for the day.  They were troopers through it all.

While trying to get a cute picture of the three kids, William kept saying things like:
'poopy butts'
'boogers'
'tooty-toots'
He's such a boy... Natalie and Andrew tried to help me out.  :-)

Whenever I'm downtown with the kids (about one or two times a year) I'm always astonished how small they are.  They are used to running down the blocks in suburban Seattle but when we're downtown with hidden parking garages and alleyways I find myself always yelling STOP, WAIT-UP, SLOW DOWN, STAY WITH ME, HOLD HANDS!!! I hope their memories of going downtown with me aren't filled with screams and yells.  But just look at them, they're so small!
Here is my favorite gingerbread house, made out of mostly cereal!  The tree is rice krispies and cocoa krispies, and on the ground are cocoa puffs.
The kids loved this one because it featured Buzz Lightyear, Wall-E, and a couple other 'space' centric characters.
This might be the last year I can get all three of them on one horse for a picture on the merry-go-round.
Our last stop for the day was a ride on the monorail, again a BIG hit!  Andrew is either showing off his new lego watch or asking me the time, either way I thought it was a cute pic!

Thanks for a fun day downtown kids!  One thing I've failed to mention is Natalie and William's mom, Jamie, took us out to lunch to Blue C Sushi.  It was my first time and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the number of choices for this no-raw-fish sushi kind of gal.  (I know I'm lame) :-)  Thanks Jamie, I'm glad we've made this downtown day into a tradition!

I say it almost every time...those kids are getting so big (even though they ARE so very small on those big Seattle streets).
